Emerging?

Where am I at now?

I have written two books in the series Eternal Quest and now writing the third. It has been a long journey but worth it. I wrote the story because firstly, it blended my two loves – Ancient History and mythology, and secondly there isn’t many books like this. Oh, I know there is many great fantasy stories that draw on mythology to create new worlds and myths, which I enjoy reading. One just has surf the web and see how many there are.

I am at the stage where I am submitting to Literary Agents and honestly, it is like drawing blood from a stone. Speak to any published author and those of us who are still trying to get a foot in the door, the hardest thing is getting representation. Agents and Publishers are all looking for the next J.K. Rowling, well that is fine. All I want is a fair go. Someone to really love the book I have written as much as I do. I have yet to find that person but I will. I have had my fair amount of knock backs (I refuse to call them rejections) but as Winston Churchill said, ‘Success is the ability to go from one setback to another with no loss of enthusiasm.’

I will persevere. As John Harman said and rightly in a workshop I recently attended, ‘No one knows anything.’

(Writers’ living in Perth, it is worth attending John’ s workshops through University of WA – Extension)
