A brief update

I thought I’d take this opportune time to bring you up-to-date as to my writing projects and what 2017 may bring. The second part may be harder to describe, I’ve yet to develop and hone my skills as a futurist, but I will give it a go.

I have completed edits on Book 2, in the Servant of the Gods series and now awaiting feedback from two readers, my guinea pigs, for their reaction to the story. Also, I want to thank my beta readers – Anne Frandi-Coory, Linnea Tanner and Craig (last name withheld) for their amazing suggestions and constructive comments on my ms. Both Anne and Linnea are authors and I’ve had the privilege to getting to know these wonderful ladies through social networking and with reading their works. I am also very honoured as I have just received Anne’s latest book, and Linnea first published book is due out very soon, and I am looking very much forward to reading it.

My novella series has taken a seat in the back while I’ve been busy with Book 2, and I plan to re-read and tweak it, revamp my query letter and email agents. As I mentioned in my previous post, Goodbye 2017, if there’s no joy from agents, I’ll go the indie route.

This year I am teaching full-time. For those who are new to my post, I am a secondary teacher. I’ve yet to work out a schedule for my writing, exercising, family and marking/prepping lessons. That is a task for this coming weekend! Yikes!! If you hearing screaming and head exploding, that will be me. So thank you for following and taking the time to comment on my articles. (just in case)

teaching-and-education

I did get to spend a week in a seaside town, Busselton (2 1/2 hour drive south of Perth), with my family. It is beautiful, lots of walks along the beach, wading in the water, resting and reading. My sister and I were fortunate to see a dolphin frolicking in the shore. The Geographe coast is shallow, you can walk out a kilometre and the water is waist high. The adult dolphin came within metres from the shoreline and I happened to have the camera with me that morning!

The magic of nature. I must say it was a highlight, and it will be forever imprinted on my mind.

So for 2017, I am aiming to:

  • Publish Book 2, date pending.
  • Query agents for my novella series.
  • Draft Book 3 and start on the second book for the novella series.
  • Hopefully write a marketing plan to conjure enough interest and excitement for the launch.
  • Have some down time.
  • Try to be more present on social networking sites. (I did say try.)
  • Be the best teacher I can be for my students.
  • and write

Has anyone set goals for this year? I did for 2016, but didn’t get very far, so I am planning on achieving most of these for 2017.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to your comments.

I haven’t set any goals for the year. I’m just too flighty for that. I am hoping to get through the 1st revision of my WiP and get at least halfway through the 2nd revision. I’m already working on being more visible on three social media site, plus I’m trying harder to promote my blog.

I don’t think I could handle your load. You’re impressive, Lucianna.

Thank you for the lovely compliment and comment, Glynis.
The operative word is ‘try’ to accomplish these goals. Sometimes life happens and you have to go with the flow, something I am not very good at.
I spent a few years at getting ‘visible’ and have made amazing friends in the process but must admit it didn’t really help in book sales or in the promotion of them.
I wish you every success, and please let me know if I can help.

    Ciao Bella,
Although your list is long, I have faith that you will accomplish all your 2017 goals! I have always admired your tenacity!

Last year I spent much of my time trying to keep my head above water. Since this year is beginning much the same, my goals are not hefty, and I’ll be starting out small. They are:

    – To try and get back into social media participation
    – Have a serious talk with myself about my wiliness to commit to writing
    – Show more appreciation of my friends, both online and local
    – Most importantly…learn that I can’t control destiny or stop the world from spinning but instead learn to adapt

    xxx 🙂

      Buongiorno Bella,
It is a long list of goals, and thank you for your belief in me 😀 x I must admit while writing the goals that it may not be a good idea to make it public. Then I thought it will make me accountable and more determined to get it done, even if I do go batty in the process. Heaven help my students!
I like your goals, they are attainable. The last one I can relate to. I’ve told myself to go with whatever is happening and not get bogged down in the silliness and trivialities that are thrown my way.
I am sure you will succeed 😀
